Housing Works SoHo Bookstore Cafe

The bookstore is an important social and financial resource for the non-profit organization, Housing Works. MK/Architect worked closely with the Bookstore on renovation and expansion of the cafe and its seating areas. The Bookstore is a multi-venue space served daily by volunteer workers and frequently used for large catering.

The design embraced an intuitive work space and proposed storage "wrapper" walls that create a greater cafe presence and identity within the bookstore. Design collaborators and prototypes: Erin Carraher and Virginia Tech architecture students.
