Snowy Range, Wyoming
The owners have retreated to this remote Snowy Mountain Range cabin near Laramie for years. It has become a favorite place for their extended family to summer. To make the cabin usable for multiple generations without razing the existing structure, MK Architect doubled the original plan and extended the one-story structure into lofted spaces. Attention was paid to minimize winter northern exposure while opening views with strategic window placement.
An experienced local builder executed most of the work by himself - a feat he credited to "the impressive clarity of the architect’s design and logic of the layout."
New wrapping decks encourage easy access to the fantastic surrounding National Park.
